European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed the European Union's commitment to a just and lasting peace for Ukraine during a meeting in Paris with US Vice President J.D. Vance on Tuesday,

"Trade wars and punitive tariffs make no sense," said von der Leyen, drawing applause from the audience in Munich.

The European Union will provide 50 billion euros ($51.6 billion) of EU funds to bolster the bloc's artificial intelligence ambitions, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday,

"The ICC guarantees accountability for international crimes and gives a voice to victims worldwide. It must be able to freely pursue the fight against global impunity. Europe will always stand for justice and the respect of international law," she wrote on social media platform .

Officials need to manage diplomatic negotiations in a more volatile geopolitical environment, the commission president said in reference to a possible trade war between the bloc and the U.S.
