Iconic brand Tupperware filed for bankruptcy Tuesday as consumers’ evolving shopping behaviors and increased competition slumped sales.

Tupperware's lenders opposed the food storage and kitchen products company's proposed bankruptcy auction during the company's first court appearance, cutting off its access to cash and threatening to derail the company's bankruptcy plans.

Iconic food storage brand Tupperware has filed for bankruptcy. According to the BBC, the company will ask for court permission to start a sale of a portion of the business. However, it is still aimed at continuing to operate in the meantime.
