A federal judge Friday put a temporary hold on President Donald Trump’s bid to put thousands of American USAID workers on forced leave as he moves to effectively kill the nation’s main foreign aid agency.

The judge temporarily barred USAID from putting 2,200 workers on paid leave after employee groups filed a lawsuit challenging the administration’s authority to shut down the agency.
