New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka spoke about why the New Orleans Saints aren't necessarily an undesirable landing spot for a potential head coach.
Neither of the consensus top two quarterback prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, were in Alabama to soak up the sun or the spotlight this week at the Senior Bowl.
Kafka was the Giants play-caller in the 2022 season and the Giants ended up getting their first postseason win since 2011. After that, Kafka had interviews with the Panthers, Texans, Colts and Cardinals for their open head coach spots. He got second interview opportunities with Houston and Arizona in that coaching cycle.
Kafka is a finalist for the Saints head coaching job, having met with them in New Orleans for an in-person second interview. The Saints, after speaking with Kafka, flew to Philadelphia to meet with Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and it appears Moore could be the favorite.
If New York Giants OC Mike Kafka lands the Saints head coaching job, he is expected to bring in Wink Martindale as his defensive coordinator.
If he doesn’t land the Saints job, there is a “strong sentiment” that the New York Giants will return play-calling duties to Mike Kafka.
