Update: Tornado watch issued for South Alabama until 3 a.m. Thursday
The National Weather Service issued an updated tornado watch at 12:53 a.m. on Thursday in effect until 3 a.m. for Butler, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw and Escambia counties.

BATON ROUGE, La. (LouisianaFirst) — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the Baton Rouge metro area. The watch, which is in place until 8 p.m., stretches from Lake Charles to Gulfport, MS. The National Weather Service in New Orleans said that storms are expected this afternoon and into the late evening.
Tornado watch issued in New Orleans area as risk of severe storms increases
The NWS also issued an enhanced risk of severe weather and slight risk of excessive rainfall, with the highest threat north of the Interstates 10 and 12 corridor. In addition to tornadoes, gusts of wind up to 70 mph and flash flooding are all possible.
